The State of PR in 2025

It was a full house for the first Cincinnati PRSA event of the year as five Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky PR all-stars shared their views on the State of PR in 2025. The compelling conversation took place at the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and more than 50 communications professionals attended.

So, what are the top public relations trends for 2025 and how should communicators approach our work?

  1. The demand for distilled information will continue to drive data visualization and short form content as communicators are tasked with sifting through the chaos to produce faster, cleaner and simpler communications.

  2. With influencer marketing and user generated content still growing in popularity, communicators’ roles to secure earned media still offers tremendous value, but the tactics will need to evolve to land the earned media “win.”

  3. Never stop learning and building upon your skills. Whether its connecting with PR peers, soaking in lessons from industry leaders or brushing up on your hard and soft skills, it’s important to stay up to speed with new trends to stay competitive; and sometimes that means stepping out of your comfort zone.

  4. Don’t forget the “why.” Starting every campaign by defining the “why” will help measure success and help leadership understand the value of how your efforts tie into the larger goals of the company.

  5. 2025 will be the Year of PR, and that means:
    a.    Dust off those crisis communications plans
    b.    Internal communications will be especially important
    c.    Learn from the pivots

Special thanks to our panelists: Rick Miller, Cody Hefner, Kristen Gallagher, Rhea Hickok and Brandy Jones.
