Cincinnati PRSA recently met at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for a hands-on workshop to share with communicators the latest tools, tips and tricks to help boost their social media strategy.
The event was a blend of knowledge-sharing and collaborative problem-solving, led by industry experts Drew Boehmker, Scooter Media; Jessica Lewis, Cincinnati Children’s; Lexi McCoy, Pomme Communications. After learning from the speakers, attendees broke into smaller groups to tackle real-world challenges.
Here are five key takeaways from the workshop:
- Focus on platforms where your audience is. Instead of spreading yourself thin across every platform, hone in on 1-3 social media channels where your target audience is most active.
- Embrace authenticity. Shift your focus from overly polished, branded content to genuine, human-centered storytelling. People connect with real stories and personalities.
- Streamline your workflow with the right tools. Use content batching and scheduling tools like Canva, CapCut, and Meta Business Suite. These resources can help you maintain consistency and save valuable time in your content creation process.
- Master the 80/20 rule. Strive for an 80/20 content mix in your posts—80% should be educational or valuable content, while 20% can be promotional. This balance keeps your audience engaged and eager for more.
- Analyze and adapt. Regularly monitor your analytics to gauge what content resonates with your audience. Experiment and adapt your strategy based on these insights.
A heartfelt thank you to Drew, Jess and Lexi as our expert panel! In today’s digital landscape, social media remains a vital channel for communicators to engage with stakeholders and amplify your messages.
