insularity
The Merriam-Webster Cambridge dictionary defines insularity as the quality of only being interested in your own country or group and not being willing to accept different or foreign ideas.
Cincinnati PRSA is honored to welcome experts from Edelman and The Edelman Trust Institute during September Ethics Month. According to the 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer, “7 in 10 respondents are unwilling or hesitant to trust someone who is different from them. In this context, perfect alignment becomes an unachievable prerequisite for trust”.
We’re pleased to present special guest speakers Drake Baer, Jenny Kantor and Catherine Aumiller who will join us from New York and Los Angeles to explore the 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer: Trust Amid Insularity. The results earned the report title of “Trust Amid Insularity”. SPOILER ALERT: insularity is widespread in society in the U.S. and around the globe.
We’ll enjoy lunch together as we learn from Drake, Jenny and Catherine about the key factors driving this rise, and what we can do to address trust issues in this age of insularity, followed by table discussions in the room.
